The OVA Lab is a dedicated resource hub for research and real-world practice in the prevention of occupational violence and aggression (OVA). It helps business leaders, HR teams, and safety professionals access evidence-based guidance that strengthens organisational OVA training and supports effective, sustainable prevention strategies across industries.

The site is led by Mark Perrett, who brings more than 30 years of firsthand experience in high-risk OVA environments — including policing, hospitality security, dock work, and two decades as a safety and wellbeing manager in state and local regulatory authorities. Mark has designed holistic OVA prevention programs; developed effective, long-lasting OVA training covering situational awareness, de-escalation, recovery, organisational learning, and managing risks related to sovereign citizen and anti-government extremism; and created systems-thinking-based risk profiling, risk control, and incident investigation tools used to improve organisational capability and safety performance.

His work is informed by an MBA (High Distinction) and ongoing PhD research in OVA prevention at Queensland University of Technology. Mark’s vision is for The OVA Lab to become a globally trusted body of knowledge that spans occupations, industries, sectors, and continents. His mission is to build a science-driven, practice-tested centre for ideas, tools, training insights, and applied research that genuinely help organisations protect their people and create safer workplaces.
