ABOUT THE OVA LAB

Integrating operational capability, psychosocial risk, governance, and prevention systems.

The OVA Lab was established to help organisations strengthen occupational violence prevention through integrated operational capability, psychosocial risk management, governance visibility, and prevention-led organisational systems.

WHY THE OVA LAB EXISTS

Many occupational violence approaches focus heavily on frontline incidents while overlooking the organisational conditions that shape escalation risk.

The OVA Lab was created to bridge the gap between operational reality, psychosocial risk management, organisational systems, governance maturity, and frontline capability.

Our work recognises that occupational violence cannot be effectively managed through training alone.

Sustainable prevention requires integrated organisational controls, operational readiness, leadership capability, and prevention-led systems thinking.

EXPERIENCE & PERSPECTIVE

A multidisciplinary perspective shaped across operations, governance, psychosocial risk, and organisational systems.

The OVA Lab was founded by Mark Perrett, whose work spans more than 30 years across operational leadership, occupational violence prevention, psychosocial risk, investigations, governance, organisational systems, workforce capability, and complex public-facing operational environments.

Mark holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) which was completed with High Distinction, and his systems-based perspective has been shaped through multidisciplinary operational experience, executive governance insight, and postgraduate research examining occupational violence through organisational and systems lenses, including research published in peer-reviewed literature.

This experience includes advisory and operational work across local government, healthcare, education, regulatory environments, and public-facing organisations — including work supporting more than 60 councils and public-sector organisations.

The OVA Lab was established to help organisations bridge the gap between frontline operational capability, psychosocial risk management, governance maturity, organisational systems, and prevention-led occupational violence management.

WHAT MAKES THE OVA LAB DIFFERENT

Beyond standalone training, compliance, or security-based approaches.

Most occupational violence approaches operate within a single discipline — training, security, compliance, safety, or psychosocial risk.

The OVA Lab operates at the intersection of operational capability, psychosocial risk management, organisational systems, governance, and prevention-led operational design.

This integrated perspective enables organisations to strengthen workforce safety, operational resilience, and governance confidence through practical, defensible, and operationally credible prevention systems.

Frontline capability remains a critical control in occupational violence prevention — but sustainable risk reduction requires integrated organisational systems, higher-order controls, leadership capability, psychosocial risk management, and governance visibility.
